​​​​​​The Education Improvement Branch offers training to school leaders and other staff about the National School Improvement Tool (NSIT) school reviews and regional reviews.

Participants from Queensland state schools are welcome to register for training outside of their region. Interested parties from other jurisdictions can arrange training by emailing eib.reportsandtraining@qed.qld.gov.au.

Understanding and applying the National School Improvement Tool (2-day program)*

Two-day program

For principals, middle leaders, teachers, school leadership teams and corporate and regional staff.

Develop a deep understanding of the school review process and how the NSIT can be used to drive school improvement and inform strategic planning.

*Prerequisite training for principal peer reviewers.








Understanding and applying the National School Improvement Tool (1-day program)

One-day program

For teachers, middle leaders, principals and corporate and regional staff.

Develop an understanding of the school review process and how the NSIT can inform teaching practice, and help you monitor progress and improve learning outcomes.


Understanding and applying the National School Improvement Tool (for school business managers and regional finance teams)

One-day program

Develop an understanding of the school review process and the NSIT with a particular focus on the targeted use of school resources domain.

The program will explore the business managers’ role in supporting a school’s improvement journey.

Leadership for School Improvement program

The Leadership for School Improvement program (PDF, ) is designed to support principals and school leadership teams having a school review in 2021/2022. It aims to support schools with their improvement agenda, to develop a precise plan of action and to build shared ownership and collective impact to improve student outcomes. 

The program will comprise of 2 workshops held in Brisbane on 9 May 2022 and 5 September 2022.

Work shadowing a school review

School and system leaders have the opportunity to join a school review as an observer and to work shadow a review team.

Gain a deeper understanding of the school review process and how the National School Improvement Tool can be used to support school improvement in a wide range of contexts.

Participants are encouraged to attend an 'Understanding and applying the National School Improvement Tool program' before shadowing a review.
